Sharper text on fitted screens, faster recovery on slow connections.

  • Sharper text. When the remote screen is larger than the window and gets fitted to it, it is now scaled down on your computer with a higher-quality filter. Text stays the same size but is noticeably sharper. Nothing changes when the window is at 1:1
  • Faster recovery when the connection slows down. When the image falls behind on a slow connection, it is no longer rebuilt from scratch; it catches up with a single full frame. Freezes on slow lines are fewer and shorter
  • Resume large file transfers. If the transfer of a large file (over 4 GB) drops, it now resumes where it left off instead of starting over. Both sides must be running 3.3.0

Job tracking: raise, follow and report support jobs from inside the app.

  • Job tracking arrives as a new section inside SmartDesk. A user raises their own job and follows its status; a technician sees the jobs assigned to them plus the waiting pool
  • A technician can take a job from the list and connect straight away, hand it to a colleague, or return it to the pool
  • When a job is closed, what was done and the time spent can be noted; both are optional
  • Remote sessions are linked to the matching job on their own, so the number of connections and the time spent on a job can be reported from the management console
  • The app shows a notification when a job is assigned, and the menu counter shows how many are waiting
  • Job tracking is a module enabled per customer. While it is off, it never appears in the app
  • macOS: keyboard and mouse used to fail silently when Accessibility permission was missing. An explanatory notice is now shown
  • Windows: fixed an error that ended the session when another application was holding the clipboard
  • Typing an invalid ID into the connect box opened an empty window that hung on the connecting screen. The normal "ID does not exist" message is now shown
  • The Pardus and Linux packages were rebuilt; nothing changed in installation or hardware acceleration

Fixed: stuck mouse and keyboard, a crash on close, and the window opening behind.

  • Mouse and keyboard freezing during a remote session: when the person at the other end touched their mouse, control sometimes did not come back for up to half a minute. It is now capped at 5 seconds
  • Fixed a crash that could occur while closing a session
  • The remote window no longer opens behind the main window, and it comes to the front when a password is requested
  • Session recording: when enabled in settings it now actually records, and it can be started with one click from the toolbar
  • macOS: if keyboard forwarding silently fails because permission was not granted, an explanatory notice is now shown
  • Windows setup now completes with a single permission prompt; the toolbar was simplified and text/language selection issues were fixed

Corporate network compatibility and macOS improvements.

  • Support for corporate networks with TLS inspection: the operating system's certificate store is now trusted, and certificate-related connection issues are reported clearly
  • macOS: if screen-recording permission has not been granted yet, the connecting side now sees an explanatory message instead of a black screen; video starts automatically once permission is granted
  • Fixed an issue where a single connection could open two windows and cause the "show displays as individual windows" setting to be lost
  • Pardus/Linux: drivers required for hardware-accelerated video encoding are now installed with the package — lower latency and CPU usage
  • Sleep/wake and permission states are now recorded for diagnostics; unnecessary log noise has been greatly reduced

Connection resilience and reporting fixes.

  • Fixed device registration staying offline for minutes after wake-from-sleep or DNS hiccups — it now recovers within seconds
  • Connection attempts now run on a single time budget; failed attempts no longer take longer than before
  • Closed a second scenario where the keyboard could stay locked after a session ended (first fix shipped in 3.1.7)
  • Session quality reports fixed: FPS is now a true session average and screen resolution is reported
  • Cleaner logs: ordinary network drops are no longer flagged as errors; log storms in multi-window use and during resolution changes were eliminated

Connection and approval-screen improvements.

  • Device registration now prefers secure WebSocket (port 443) — devices on networks that block UDP no longer appear "offline"
  • Fixed the password/approval dialog staying stuck after approve, reject or window close
  • Fixed a ghost session when closing a window and reconnecting immediately
  • When the remote side is offline, the error message and the "no image yet" hint no longer show at the same time; the message now says what to do
  • A connection whose remote side stops responding is now closed instead of staying frozen
  • On multi-monitor devices, opening a second window no longer changes the selected display

  • Fixed the "Swap sides" feature not working when installed as a Windows service
  • Virtual display: failed attempts no longer slow down the connection or lock the mouse/keyboard; unsupported devices now show a clear warning; "Remove all" now always works
  • Device name and identity formatting is now consistent across all screens — unnamed devices show the host name
  • "View camera" on a device without a camera no longer leaves a stuck black window
  • Fixed the address book's online status counter
  • Removed a duplicate option in security settings

  • Fixed the "Password only" approval mode briefly showing an Allow button on the remote side by mistake

Smarter connection flow, cleaner error messages.

More stable connections, smarter codec selection, better error reporting.

  • "Host not found" errors on Windows are significantly reduced, thanks to automatic DNS retry
  • Devices no longer show as "offline" during brief network blips (heartbeat timeout raised from 5 to 12 minutes)
  • Removed unnecessary retries on connection errors — 1 attempt instead of 4 for a single failure
  • Computers with 3–4 GB of RAM now use the AV1/H264 codec — previously they fell back to VP8 unnecessarily
  • AV1 is only selected when the computer genuinely supports it — fewer freezes on slower devices

  • When a connection is rejected, the reason is now shown — wrong password, expired session, etc.
